We need a story!
I can't stand that this is a success story thread and the posts say NEVER! LOL!! Most of us on this board are strict Atkins converts so it's no wonder we don't have any tried & true stories yet!
I can say that the diet is starting to work a little for me. Down one full pound and clothes are starting to fit a little better. Plus psychologically I feel better eating less saturated fat. Even the folks at Atkins came out with a statement when pushed that said, "limit sat fat to no more than 20 grams per day". Now I think I am successfully below that number. Probably even closer to 10 grams, but I don't know how much is in the meats I am eating, though they are lean meats. I remember Dr. Atkins saying the amount of sat fat was immaterial once you cleared out your system from sugars/refined flours and trans fats. But he was referring to Induction and as you climb the rungs on OWL, you ARE supposed to reduce the fats along the way. I think this would bring your sat fats more in line -- and I believe that is where most of us having trouble have gotten tripped up. So let's hear from some other losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: We need a story!
good job Mindy. Yes, even on Atkins as you climb the O.W.L ladder and into the latter phases of that WOE the fat should be going down and I would think you are correct about the sat. fat coming down. I know that I eat the leaner cuts of meat, do more chicken, turkey, fish etc. and less of the red meats. I do still eat regular cheese, use butter etc. but get most of my fats from things like Mayo, avacados, nuts etc. I use Olive oil, Grapeseed oil, and coconut oil.

Re: We need a story!
I'm doing just what you are doing with the exception of including 1/3 less fat cheese (does not taste like rubber) and I eat Earth Balance butter spread which is made from oils. It's the same thing as Smart Balance but organic. Think it's the same manufacturer. The product labeling is so similar on both!

Re: We need a story!
Mindy, I love reading what's worked for you! It reminds us that when it comes down to it, we all have to follow what our bodies ask of us. So, while you're not eating that many carbs, you know the ones you're getting are what work best for you, and the fats you're eating are the ones which are best for you, too!
