Cool Todays the day

Well its arrived, the day that I set in my mind to start the Atkins way of eating. So far I think I am doing ok , no seriously, I have spent the last couple of days reading the book, I think I have got the jist of it, no bread potatoes pastas etc, so why do I feel like I did when I first became a qualified chef going into a 'real' kitchen, LOST!! Fingers crossed for me please that I get through first day!

Re: Todays the day

It's a lot of information to take in at one time. Plus, it pretty much goes against the last 30 years worth of nutritional advice.

If you wanna run menus past us, we can give you some pointers. For me, it was a little easier, since I don't cook, it was a protein with veggies plus some fats. Pretty boring, but easy I grew into some more diverse menus as I got more comfortable with the plan and saw some ideas in forums like this one.

You'll do great.

Re: Todays the day

Stick to food prepared from fresh ingredients (not processed ones like flour) and you'll do fine. Good luck, this really works and you'll feel great soon.

Re: Todays the day

First day went really good, I think Seemed quite strange with things that I was eating and allowed to eat, like eggs and bacon.
Not sure if I need to get new bathroom scales though, as this morning I went into bathroom to get washed and couldn't resisted standing on them, they said that I was 2 pounds lighter than day before, I might be wrong , but surely no diet could allow you too lose 2 pounds in one day!

Re: Todays the day

Good for you! 1 day down! Yippee!

My weight varies by as much a 3 pounds up and down from day to day so it is possible. At first you will also drop water weight pretty quickly! Be sure and drink lots of water as this is what flushing out the excess believe it or not!

Re: Todays the day

Drinking water helps flush out fat and it also helps flush out retained water! Plus it gives you nice skin as an added bonus! I don't know the actual mechanics of it, but it does work! Plus, when you're in ketosis, you'll be thirsty anyway. I drink about 5-6 liters a day!

Re: Todays the day

Hi, day 2 is going really well so far, enjoying so much more than yesterday, as I was nervous every time I ate yesterday incase it was wrong.
Yes I am a chef and as soon as I get a bit more confident with the eating plan, hate saying diet, I will do some experimenting and pass it on, never know I might even get my signature dish out of it!

Re: Todays the day

Shazzy, I lost 7kg (15lbs) the first week and 4 kg (8.5 lbs) the second. SO yes, you can lose 2 lbs the first day on this way of life

Re: Todays the day

Well day 4 and what can I say! I am amazed! I know when I was put on metformin tablets, the doc said follow a low carb diet and the weight will fall off you, but 5 lbs in 3 days, has the big wow factor!
the fact that I am really enjoying the way that I am eating is always a plus.
I just feel like I want to run up to people in the street, tell them that I am eating low carb and it is really working!!
