I just can't believe how lucky you have been with your lunches - do you think the planner secretly on Atkins? Not at all the typical lunch fare! Glad you're doing so well. Keep it up and you should be so proud. A great feeling to whip it, huh?![]()
I can do this..uh huh!!!

You're right cstraq, it has been fortunate. Today was the last day of the meetings, just one more dinner/breakfast/lunch at the airport to get through now until I'm home again. Lunch today was pretty ok too. It was supposed to be a sandwich day, plus they had some noodle dish too. Anyway, with the sandwiches it was "make your own", and they had chicken strips (grilled), roast beef, ham, and pepperoni, with a few types of cheese, and dill pickle wedges... and lots of desserts. So, you can guess what I did... just loaded up the plate with meats and cheese. You know, nobody even questioned it. So, I never on this whole trip ever had to explain what I'm doing. I'm sure people wondered, but were just too polite to ask, and nobody ever made fun of it either, and that was nice!!! I never once heard anyone say that what I was eating was bad for me, but then, how could they?
Oh, I'm sure the planner isn't on Atkins because you should see what he eats for breakfast and dinner!!! And of course all of the snacks they have in there all day long... they came in every morning and loaded up the trays with donuts, rolls, jelly, fruits, juices, etc... Then, after lunch they reload the trays with cookies, pretzels (the ballpark kind) and all kinds of other snacks... And, I'm proud to say that I never touched even one of them!![]()
And hey, if I can do this, anyone can! That's 110% truth folks. Before I began I would have snacked on those things all day long and still ate junk at night. I was the total junk food king. Not anymore.
I've got to be honest. Part of the reason I started this thread was to make myself accountable to everyone here. And, I wanted to prove to everyone here, that they (YOU!!!) can do it too. It all comes down to just how bad you want it... and, I want it bad!!!
I hope others will post similar threads about challenges they are facing with low carbing in general, and will let us know how they dealt with it.
Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and kind words!

Well done Rick. It's better to be the jester of healthy than the junk food king.
Thanks Binsk! You're so right.
Just wanted everyone to know that I made it home tonight. I made it through the entire trip CHEAT FREE!!!!!! You really don't know how much that means to me. This was my first truly major test, and I passed. I feel so good about myself right now, and I can't tell you how long it's been since I felt this way. Tonight when I got home, the first thing I did was strip down (no pics!!) and step on the scale. Trust me, I ate a lot on this trip, but nothing wrong. I was shocked when I got on the scale to see that I'd actually lost a lb during the trip!!! The lb's have been slow to shed lately, so even one is something to celebrate in my world, and this one put me half way to my goal of 180!!! I realize that 180 may not even be realistic, but I'll never make it if I don't reach for it, right?
Anyway, thanks to everyone that took this journey with me. I truly appreciate the inspiration that everyone gave! I think you're all just "cool beans"!!!

Thanks Sarah!
I have visited your website... and I thought I had it tough. I can't imagine what you're going through, truly. I wish you luck and success. I don't think I could do it. Atkins is hard enough, but what you're doing (liquids) would be impossible to me (without it being alcohol!!! hehe!!).
Again, thanks for the comments, and I'll be praying for you! Best of luck!

Rick, even if you were a superfast loser, a pound lost is a pound lost and should be celebrated. You could have spent that week any number of ways and coming out lighter than you went in is the best possible outcome.
You can re-evaluate your goal when you get closer, to see if looks good on you or not, but I'm confident you can make it there.

You guys!!!!!!! (Ok, gals... sorry!!!)
You just really make me feel great. I mean, I do feel great about what I accomplished... but hey, really... it's not that big of a thing to most people. It's just people like "us" that get it.
Thank you so much for all of the positive posts and vibes... I think the world of all of you!
