New Year's Challenge, March 20 - March 26

132 this morning. I briefly saw 130 over the weekend, but spent all day yesterday pigging out for some reason. I wasn't hungry, tired, stressed, or anything, so I'm not sure what was going on. We did have Thai Sat for lunch and there may have been something in that that triggered cravings. I went for broccoli and chicken in peanut sauce, but that's pretty much only my second go at Thai food, so I have no idea what else was in it.

I did some rowing on the BowFlex over the weekend. That doesn't take a lot of prep work (sometimes it's a workout just getting the **** thing configured) so maybe I'll just work on doing that every day before trying to do the whole workout thing.

The bf is also talking about taking up kayaking again, so it would be a good way to get ready for that (should it ever warm up here).

How's everyone else doing?

Laura

Re: New Year's Challenge, March 20 - March 26

Is it too late to join a new years challenge? I got a late start this year and just found this board.

I have been going back and forth low carbing for the past month. I'd be on three days and off 2...needless to say I was starting to feel real yuck! So last week I told myself I am either going to do this or I'm not. I decided I would. I lost 4 pounds staying at about 35 carbs per day. I haven't done full on induction but I am thinking to go ahead and start tomorrow for the full two weeks. It's going to be tough.

Well anyway....I'm looking for a good group of LCB's to hang with, so can I join haha

PS
I am at 217 too Andrea and I have a pair of 16's waiting also lol

Re: New Year's Challenge, March 20 - March 26

You're more than welcome to join.

We're making goals for June, so let us know what you'd like to lose by then. Any type of low carb plan is fine, so if you find Atkins too hard, then try South Beach. If you find South Beach too hard, then try something else. I'm an Atkins fan, but I'm a bigger fan of 'whatever works'.

My June goal is to loose 17 lbs which would put me at 200 even. Do I post that somewhere else besides this thread?

Nah, when Cleo gets back I'll make her update all the numbers. I don't do math

Re: New Year's Challenge, March 20 - March 26

My goal on the other thread (that's waiting for Cleo to update it! lol) was to lose 80 lbs by June.

As of this morning, I've lost 50.9 lbs. Yes, I'm happy with that! but I do wish there'd been that extra .1 lb so it would be an integer, lol!

My weight's been moving super slowly the last 2.5 weeks. I upped my calories and lowered my exercise, and now it's moving again. Go figure!

PS:
1) don't know what's wrong with my ticker, there's no mathematical reason for it to read "50.89" instead of 50.9. But when I tried to change it, it went to red X box.

2) I've been retaining water like mad for about 10 days now. TOM comes this week, was supposed to today, but it's looking more like it will in a couple days. But that's too long before to be retaining water. I've cut salt waaaaay down, and still, I can drink 2 quarts, go to the bathroom and lose just a tiny bit, and then look down at my left ankle, and there it is, puffing it's way up! My doc says it's because of losing the weight, my body is adjusting. But I'm annoyed -- maybe I've lost MORE weight! lol

Re: New Year's Challenge, March 20 - March 26

lol, I round to full pounds. Actually, I don't even round, I just use the number before the decimal We're made up of way more than fat and muscle, so the sum total of our body parts only gives part of the story. I'm not saying you can't do it, but it doesn't really tell you anything to break it down to less than a pound.

If you wanna see that in action, weigh yourself, then weigh again with a bottle of water in your hand, and then weigh once more after drinking it. The scale can't tell the difference where that water is, but you didn't get a pound or two fatter by picking it up or drinking it.

If you don't stop retaining water soon, I'd keep on your doctor or get a second opinion. Cells will retain water, trying to keep things in balance, but not to the point where you can see your ankles swelling.

Oh, and congrats on the 50.9 pounds. That's fantastic progress.

Laura
