Re: What diet are you on?

Well, Atkins is what got me started on low carb, but I've never actually done it "by the book". I haven't totally given up caffeine or diet soda. I haven't climbed the rungs, etc. I guess you could say that I've done some tweaking to the plan to suit me. I feel that it's easier and I'm more likely to stay on it if I make the adjustments. It hasn't caused me to stall in my weight loss journey or I would change something. And if there comes a time when it interferes with my progress, I'll do some more tweaking. I think that it's more important to do it this way and make it something that I can stick with ........... than to make it too difficult and give up.

This is my 2 cents worth. Your mileage may vary.

Re: What diet are you on?

I still say I'm doing Atkins, but really, I'm just eating controlled carb foods that I enjoy ... fortunately for me, I'm a carnivore and I love lots of non-starchy veggies! There are some foods I just can't go back to .. The ones that made me fat!

Re: What diet are you on?

I marked Atkins because I did follow it, but I followed the 92 book.

When I started adding carbs back in after a month on Induction, I just added from whatever food group I wanted, making sure to stay away from things I figured would mess me up. I went at my own pace and added foods as I wanted them. I still stay away from things that I know would send me back to carb land, like potatoes. I'll add those back later, when I'm closer to goal.

I never gave up my coffee and yea, I go over my sweetener alottments most days, but not by much.

I don't think any diet is going to fit every person exactly as it's written and I often wonder how many people give up or give in because the exact written version doesn't work for them?

Re: What diet are you on?

Atkins here, but it's only my 7th day..I didn't have much water today as I did a lot of tearing around,I did sweat though, but should have had my water with me..so I'll see if it makes a difference in the morning when I get on the scale..

Re: What diet are you on?

I marked *other*, but I follow Lean for Life. I had a short stab at Atkins earlier in the year with disastrous results for me, so I went back to what's worked for me and helped me to lose 150 pounds. I still have a long way to go, and have been in a serious stall, but still trying to stay focused. No more tweaking for me.

Re: What diet are you on?

I've read Atkins and South Beach, so I loosely do a variation of both--but not much meat. I have to have some whole grains and whatnot, though, because I am breastfeeding (exclusively...) a 7 week old baby girl. So for the most part I'm just being careful to not eat all that processed crap and sugar and all that stuff that I ate just a bit too much of (enough to gain 54 pounds) while I was pregnant...now, strangely enough I haven't the apetite for any of it. And I'm eating a bit of fruit also--gotta maintain the milk supply.

This week I hit my first 20!! Only, erm, 34 more and then about 30 after that.....

Re: What diet are you on?

Hmmm I started with Diabetic Exchange Diet following a 1600 calorie diet that I tweaked to suit me. I then switched to WW's for a year or so and last Feb. I began Atkins. I believe Low Carb will be for my lifetime...its the only lifestyle that has given me the WL results the fastest and most satisfying for me.

Re: What diet are you on?

Nurselady-

Here is a link to the paleo type of eating.
http://www.paleodiet.com/

I mostly follow Ray Audette's Neanderthin plan, seems to work best for me.
http://www.neanderthin.com

Some women I know do well following Dr. Loren Cordain's The Paleo Diet.
http://www.thepaleodiet.com/faq.htm#Basics

I still use Dr. Atkins baseline for GI/GL on fruits, I am very selective/restrictive on which fruits I will eat. And I take his recommendations on supplements very seriously.

Also, dairy is typically considered NOt paleo, although I seem to handle it just fine in the summer months. I cut it out during the colder months.
