First, let me say that I in no way work for QVC or Henrietta Hen... I just want to share with all of you egg lovers this cool thing I just got today. Her name is Henrietta... and she makes the easiest, most unbelievable eggs... I love hard boiled eggs but hate making them... well let me tell you... this hen made 7 hard boiled eggs in 15 minutes and I've never seen a hard boiled egg so perfect!!! Mine are always hard and dried out, sometimes the yolks are turning green from overcooking... my 12 year old son was even impressed with how perfect the eggs are!! She also poaches eggs, which I haven't tried yet... another thing I hate to cook because they ruin my pans...

I know my dad's third wife had an egg piercer and it seemed to really make a difference! I found a technique now where I wait until the water rapidly boils and then slowly and carefully place eggs (unpierced) in the water and allow to boil for 20 minutes. I then immediately pour off the hot water and add icewater to the eggs until they rapidly cool (be careful for your cookware so it doesn't do damage from extreme temperature change), and I've found the eggs were really easy to peel. The only time I've had issues was when I didn't wait until the water boiled to add eggs and they cracked. Otherwise, the eggs just don't seem to crack for me?

I think it looks like a great item, and can attest to pircing the fatter part of the egg. You can, BTW, do the same thing with a sharp thumbtack...

Oh they'll love it!!! My 12 year old son is having a blast with it!!

She don't really cluck.. it's more of a chirp... but it's cute.. I have to stop and buy more eggs....

I was just reading in Readers Digest last night and they didn't give this to good of a rating.... Sorry. I think they gave it a 2 out of a possible 5. I do my eggs like Cleo. cept I put the eggs in first thing.

I've always had trouble doing a good hard-boiled egg. My dear daughters gave me Henrietta for last Mother's Day and I absolutely LOVE it! I can't imagine why it didn't get a good rating. The eggs are always cooked perfectly and are easy to peel. I use a little CLR (cleaner) to remove the dirty stuff on the base occasionally. I got mine off EBay.
