LCBB Terms of Service
Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of LCBB or any entity associated with this Bulletin Board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violates any law.
The LCBB moderators and administrators do not and cannot review all messages posted and they are not responsible for the content of any of these messages. We, at this Bulletin Board, reserve the right to delete or edit any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages.
For simplicity sake, we ask that you adhere to the following posting guidelines:
1. Be kind and supportive. Flaming/trolling/abusive posts and/or spam, either in the open forums or in private messages, will not be tolerated on the boards. Know that even if you don't leave personally identifiable information, your IP can and will be logged and you can be reported to your ISP and/or banned from posting.
2. If a member is temporarily banned, any sock puppet accounts that are created to gain access to the board will be banned permanently. Creating new accounts to bypass a suspension will result in a 1 year suspension or a permanent ban.
3. Try to post to the appropriate forums. This will enable our members to help and answer your questions in the best manner possible. It also helps newer members find the information since you may be asking a question they need an answer to as well!
4. Please stick to the topic of the original post, after all, that's just good manners! Threadjacking from time to time happens, but it needs to be kept to a minimum out of respect for the OP (original poster). When the threadjack becomes the dominant portion of the conversation in a thread that was started for something completely different, LCBB moderators/administrators will either redirect the conversation back to the original topic or edit the threadjack out and start a new topic for it. If it is a continued issue, the moderators/administrators will address it with the offender privately and treat it as a TOS violation.
5. Do not act as a backseat moderator. Examples of such behavior are:
- posting in the forums your opinion about who should be banned from the board, which threads should be locked, which threads should be made stickies, etc.
- PM'ing moderators to tell them how they should do their job, which threads/posts need to be locked, which members to be banned, etc.
- telling other board members that they posted their thread in the wrong forum
- harassing people, either in the forums or in private messages, about following the Terms of Service
- creating threads or posting replies that address the entire community in a way similar to one a moderator would create, e.g. "The purpose of this bulletin board is to provide a friendly and supportive environment for low carb dieters. I am very concerned about what I see in this thread... rude and hateful messages. I would suggest everyone to reread the Terms of Service."
Although you might have good intentions, acting as a backseat moderator is actually causing more problems in the long run.
There are ways to help without violating this rule. If you believe a post or a thread violates the Terms of Service, either report the post to bring it to the attention of the board moderators and administrators, or PM a moderator or an administrator about it.
6. If you have a problem with any user, you are welcome to contact a moderator or an administrator in a respectful manner. Arguing with moderators or administrators, especially after receiving a warning, will not be tolerated.
7. The owner, moderators and administrators have the express right to remove or edit any post, for any reason, at any time. It is our policy to try to contact the poster of an offending message privately to let them know that their post was removed and why it was removed.
8. Some posts may be deemed overly controversial for this board. We may choose not to allow certain posts that may cause flame wars or split the board. Topics such as race, religion, and politics may be censored at the discretion of the moderators/administrators.
9. All posts submitted on LCBB become the property of LCBB. Copying posts to other websites (including other bulletin boards, forums and blogs) is not permitted without the permission of the administrators and of the original poster.
10. Any member who violates the TOS will be warned by an administrator or moderator. In general, members will be given the "three strikes you're out" opportunity and a third TOS violation will result in temporary or permanent ban. Infractions can and will be issued by administrators.
11. Your signature should be related to your low carb journey. If your signature is found to be unrelated or controversial, you will be asked to remove it. If not done in a timely manner it will be removed for you. Any links in signatures must be approved by an administrator or a moderator. Please be advised that all links should be:
a) Non commercial;
b) Relevant to your low carb plan;
c) Non competitive.
12. Our moderators and members are not medical experts. Advice given here is based solely on individual experience and study.
13. The advice given in the LCBB forums is not intended for persons under the age of 18. All underage members should follow any diet only under the supervision and guidance of their pediatrician and parents.
14. Have fun! You have found a fantastic board with tons of great people. Take advantage of your find, dive in and enjoy!
